Whey Protein Good or Bad

My Experiences With Whey Protein...

Wow to whey! I have been taking a whey protein powder for approximately 3 1/2 months now and in that time I have come to the conclusion that I love it! Due to my work environment I am very often unable to get proper meals in, especially when trying to eat 6-7 meals a day, but since I've been supplementing my meals with whey it has become a heck of a lot easier!

Most Whey protein powders today come in many great flavors and can be mixed with water or milk, and really don't taste that bad. I know the first time I tried an unflavored whey, it was putrid! Now I have seen Chocolate, Strawberry, Vanilla, and French Vanilla, and I am sure there are many more out there. I admit they taste much better with milk, but mixing with water is both convenient and reasonably tasty.

If you are like me and are not getting nearly enough protein in you diet, especially those people who are body building and supposed to be eating up to 1 gram per pound of body weight. You know it is virtually impossible to naturally consume that much protein per day without eating a heck of a lot, and spending a lot of time doing it! The Average Whey Protein powder contains about 16g-23g of protein per scoop, with around 100-150 calories per scoop, with that low of calories and high of protein you can easily eat the daily suggested amounts!

As for the benefits of eating, most people in the fitness and body building community would not dispute the fact that a healthy protein intake is possibly the most important factor in terms of getting 'big' and putting on major amounts of mass. I have taken this form of supplementation for the past 3 months and have really significant gains. I am larger in terms of muscle growth, smaller in terms of body fat, AND it is VERY EASY to maintain a 6 to 7 meal a day regiment!

There has to be a down side to this great product, right? Well yes and no.. The products themselves are great for the body and I highly recommend using them, however, the cost of whey protein normally starts at about 16-17 dollars USD per 2LBS. 2 lbs normally lasts me about 2-3 weeks. So I consider it a dollar a day rationalization for the pricing but if you can afford it, and are wanting to put on good healthy muscle mass, give it a shot right now, I am sure it will be the best thing you have ever done!
